A couple of months back I took advantage of increased sign up offers for both the Delta Gold & Platinum SkyMiles Credit Cards by American Express at 50,000 points each. Delta has brought back this public offer for the Gold Card at 50,000 points and has increased the Platinum Card’s offer to 60,000 SkyMiles + 10,000 MQM’s (towards elite status). I was able to successfully sign up for both cards and earn over 100,000 Delta SkyMiles in just a few short months! You’ll earn the bonus points for each card after spending $2,000 in 3 months.
Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card:
In addition, you’ll get a $50 statement credit on Delta purchases – I was able to buy a Delta e-Gift credit, which can be combined with other Delta e-Gift credits, on future airfare purchases. The card is free for the first year and then carries a $95 annual fee. You also get a free checked bag as a cardholder.
The increased 50,000 point offer is available for the Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Card as well!

Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card:
With the Platinum Card you can get $100 statement credit on Delta purchases as well as a Domestic Main Cabin round-trip companion certificate each year upon renewal of your Card. The card carries an annual fee of $195, which is not waived the first year. I canceled this card once I received the bonus points and was refunded the $195 annual fee while keeping the Gold Card in my portfolio of cards.

Maximizing Delta Awards:
Some of my favorite award tickets bookable through Delta is LAX-London in Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class for only 62,500 points and $5.60 saving you the exorbitant fuel surcharges that Virgin charges for its award tickets.
You can also fly in Virgin Australia’s Upper Class from LAX-Sydney for 80,000 points and $5.60 each way. Delta partners with Air France, KLM, Aeroflot and some other partner airlines that have some pretty sweet spots. Though Delta has devalued their award system and a very big way, there’s definitely still some great value in their program and I’d rather earn points through these credit cards than transfer valuable points such as SPG to book a Delta SkyMiles ticket.
Note: You will not be eligible for these bonuses if you’ve already held one of the cards before.
