Fodor’s just released their list of the top 25 places to visit in 2015. Some of the entries included Norway, Chile, Romania, Oman, Barbados, Singapore, Iceland, Czech Republic, and….wait for it…Cleveland, Ohio?! Yup, apparently the fact that Lebron (King) James has returned to the city makes it one of the “many” reasons to visit this frigid in the winter and blazing hot in the summer town.
Or as Fodor’s words it:
“The fact that super-athlete LeBron James has returned to his hometown to strut his stuff with the Cleveland Cavaliers isn’t the only reason to visit theRock and Roll Capital of the World this year. With culinary kings like Michael Symon and Jonathon Sawyer, an orchestra rated one of the top five in the nation, and a major new wing at The Cleveland Museum of Art, the second-largest city in Ohio has long shed its industrial past. Now, it’s also home to the stunning Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland, the first U.S. design by prominent Iranian architect Farshid Moussavi.”
Do you agree with Cleveland being included in this list? Which places would be in your top 25 to visit? I personally would rather visit some more exotic or culturally historic places around the world before I hit up Cleveland. Am I being too harsh? Apparently there’s already a pretty great promotional video that highlights why tourists should be visiting Cleveland.
As a Clevelander, I am naturally biased. But I can tell you that many people I know that have visited Cleveland for their first time have been quite impressed. It is a culinary and arts destination. A place that is affordable and easy to navigate. There is a lot of history and interesting architecture. If you haven’t been to Cleveland recently (or ever), I would recommend a visit. Though admittedly you may enjoy your time more once the weather warms up 🙂
