In response to American Express’s increased sign up offer of 30,000 points for their Starwood Preferred Guest Card by referring a friend and receiving a 5,000 point bonus, Chase is emulating the same offer but without an increased sign up bonus for their Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. Both cards are fantastic and should be held by anyone interested in earning valuable reward points in the SPG and Ultimate Rewards programs. The Chase Sapphire Preferred has a sign up bonus of 40,000 points with an additional 5,000 points when you add a user to your account.

Both referral offers are valid until June 30, 2014. Chase allows you to make up to 50,000 bonus points by referring 10 friends who sign up for the card, and Amex allows you to earn a potential 55,000 bonus points.
