Update: Deal is dead! The sign up offer has returned to its original 25,000 point bonus.
American Express came out with their annual increased sign up offer for the Starwood Preferred Guest Card. In my opinion, the Amex SPG card earns you the most valuable rewards currency of any program in existence right now. Starwood offers a variety of fantastic hotel chains that can be redeemed for only a few thousand points. Hotels that go for $300, $400, or $500+ go for 10,000 or 12,000 points per night. If you book 5 nights, you will get the 5th night free. Read more about the amazing perks of the SPG Rewards Program and the ability to transfer points to dozens of major airlines and earn a free 5,000 point bonus for every 20,000 Starpoints you transfer!
Increased 30,000 Point Sign Up Offer:
To receive the increased 30,000 point sign up offer, you must be referred by someone who already has the SPG card. So if a friend or family member of yours has the card, be sure to ask them to email you a referral link and once you sign up, they also receive a 5,000 point bonus in their SPG account. If you don’t know of anyone with the card, please email me at theflymiler@gmail.com and I will send you a referral as soon as I can.
The increased offer is available for both the consumer and business SPG cards and can earn you 70,000 Starpoints. After your first purchase, you will receive 10,000 points and an additional 20,000 points when you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months of card opening. That’s 35,000 points for each card once you meet the spending threshold in 3 months.

I wrote about some of the great things that you can do with the airline partners listed above, including ANA and British Airways Avios. Starwood also has a great cash+points program that allows you to book hotel nights combining points with cash to stay more nights and achieve that “stay 5 nights and the 5th night is free” bonus. This offer is said to last only until June 30th, 2014 (you must be approved by this date), so jump on this fantastic bonus while it lasts and make sure to email me if you need a referral!
