Back in November, I splurged on a four-night stay at The Park Hyatt New York. Ever since its opening back in 2014, I’ve been patiently waiting for an excuse to make it out to New York. That excuse turned out to be nothing more than a wedding in Miami that turned into a “stopover” in New York to try out the Park Hyatt. The hotel occupies 25 floors in the One57 building off of 57th and 7th Ave – a fantastic location just three blocks from Central Park in Midtown Manhattan.
Arrival:
I took a red eye from LA to Newark and arrived at 3:50 AM due to daylights savings! At least I managed to secure a lie-flat seat in United’s 757 business/first class for only 25,000 points. Definitely worth the points…

But of course, being the city that never sleeps, the town was full of Halloween party-goers returning from a late night on the town and plenty of early risers preparing for the New York City Marathon. I arrived at the hotel at about 5:45 AM and figured I would drop off my bags and go get breakfast while I wait for my room to get ready. But emailing the hotel in advance paid off as they had a room ready for me 9 hours before check in! I got up to my room and I could not believe how big it was, especially for New York standards!

The attention to detail by in the hotel and by the staff was remarkable. The lighting, the decor, the turndown service – all of it offered a really luxurious setting and a typical Park Hyatt signature touch. My favorite part of the hotel was the fitness center and pool located up on the 25th floor.

Not only was the Park Hyatt Hotel beautiful, the fall colors in Central Park were stunning and just a short walk from the hotel:
The Park Hyatt New York is a Category 7 Hyatt hotel, meaning a 30,000 point/night redemption cost. So I used my Chase Hyatt Credit Card sign up bonus to book two of the four free nights and transferred 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to my Hyatt account to book the other two. Considering the hotel currently averages over $800 per night, I think that’s some pretty great value.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the understated attention to detail and the feeling of luxury beginning with the check in and continuing with the amazing room and service throughout. I highly recommend checking out the Park Hyatt on your next visit to New York!
How far in advance did you book? We hope to be getting our 4 certificates around May 2016 and go to NYC May 2017. The plan was to use all 4 for the Park Hyatt, but I wasn’t sure how hard it is to book with award nights.
I booked the trip about a month in advance of my stay. Originally, I was hoping to book the hotel for the week following my stay, but there was only availability for 2 of the 4 nights. Hyatt generally doesn’t make award bookings available more than a year in advance, but I would recommend calling them in May to book over the phone as awards begin to open up. Good luck!
