Bookable on Priceline

On select dates starting January of next year, United has flights originating out of Washington DC to Tel Aviv, Israel for only $693!

Airline: United

Sample Dates: January 24 – 31

Flight: Washington DC – Newark – Tel Aviv – Newark – Washington DC

Tip: If you’re located in New York, you can use some British Airways Avios for a short haul flight for only 4,500 points to Washington DC and then just get off the plane in Newark on the way back, pick up your bags, and skip that last EWR-IAD leg.

There is availability on other airlines such as: Air Canada or Turkish Airlines for slightly cheaper if that works for some people. Air Canada stops in Toronto and Turkish Airlines stops in Istanbul.

Using Miles vs. Paying: In some instances, I find it to be a better value to pay for a flight than to use your hard-earned miles. In this case, a saver award roundtrip ticket from the US to Israel would cost 85,000 points. If we’re valuing United MileagePlus points at a conservative 1.3 cents per point, that’s an effective cost of $1,105 which is considerably more than the cost of this flight at $693. Not to mention that fact you’d be earning a lot of points for flying this route that count towards elite status and future award bookings.

Happy Flying!
