Manufactured spending is a great way to speed up the earning process of points and miles and build up your reward accounts in time for that next big trip you have planned. In the past, we used methods such as purchasing Vanilla Reloadable cards that we would take to our banks to load into our checking accounts or load them onto our American Express Bluebird accounts at Walmart. Nowadays, I lean towards the purchase of Visa Gift Cards and load them onto my Bluebird account at Walmart, or send them to a friend/myself by way of Amazon Payments. Amazon Payments is super easy: if you already have an Amazon account (who doesn’t?) and verify all your bank details, you will then be able to send $1,000 per month with a credit/debit card to a friend or family member. Then, your friend or family member sends you $1,000 right back, and you withdraw the money into your bank account – and voila you have successfully spent $1,000 on your credit card, and your bank account has increased by $1,000!

Once you purchase some Visa Gift Cards, you’ll want to load them onto your Amex Bluebird card in order to pay off your credit card bills or send yourself a check. In order to do that, you will have to go to a local Walmart and manually upload the gift cards with the Walmart bank teller or at the money machine ATM. The gift cards can act as a debit card by using the last 4 digits of the card as a pin, or customizing the pin code using this link. Up until now, you could only load $1,000 per Bluebird card per day, up to $5,000 per month. Bluebird updated their terms to allow users to load $2,500 per Bluebird card per day, up to $5,000 per month. This makes it a lot easier but not having to make too many trips to Walmart. Especially if you have multiple cards from family members, you can load a lot more money per day onto your Bluebird accounts.
