Today, I received a targeted email offer from Delta promoting the American Express Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card that offers 35,000 point sign up offer and an additional 5,000 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) after spending $1,000 in the first 3 months of card opening. The regular offer for this card is only 10,000 Delta Skymiles when you make your first purchase with the card and it also lacks many of the added perks that come with the targeted offer.

The targeted offer includes:

Earning Elite Status:

After spending $1,000 in the first 3 months of card opening, you will receive 5,000 MQMs that count towards Delta Elite Status. With Miles BoostSM, you can earn 10,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs after you spend $25,000 or more in purchases on the Card in a calendar year. You can earn an additional 10,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs after you spend $50,000 or more in purchases on the Card in a calendar year. So if you’re interested in reaching elite status with Delta, or you primarily fly Delta and would like to make this your primary credit card, this offer sounds like a no brainer. If you spend $50,000 in a year, you will earn a minimum of 110,000 Delta Skymiles plus 25,000 MQMs!

Credit Card Perks:

The credit card comes with $195 annual fee, but you will receive $100 statement credit when you complete a Delta purchase within the first 3 months of card opening. The purchase must be made directly through Delta, so any related Delta flight purchase or even a gift card should qualify you for the statement credit.

  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Check your first bag free
  • Priority boarding
  • 20% savings on in-flight purchases
  • Discounted Delta Sky Club Access – You and a guest companion can visit the Delta Sky Clubs for a discounted $29 rate (or use your Amex Platinum, if you have one, to receive free access for the primary cardholder)
  • Receive a domestic Economy Class Companion Certificate each year upon renewal, which helps negate the $195 annual fee

Final Consensus:

I haven’t been the biggest fan of Delta’s Skymiles Rewards Program, however, they are undeniably one of the better airlines when it comes to customer service and in-flight experience. This credit card definitely makes achieving elite status much easier and will help your chances in receiving complimentary upgrades on domestic flights. This targeted offer is so much better than the regular offer and you can compare them by clicking the links below. Overall, I would highly consider applying for the targeted offer that I’ve laid out in this article, and if you’re looking for the business card version, then click here.
