BoardingArea’s One Mile At A Time blogger posted about limited first class award availability on flights between LAX and Sydney/Melbourne, Australia. Qantas rarely released first class availability to its partner airlines and will usually do so up to a year in advance of the flight. However, Qantas has released a limited amount of first class award tickets on their fantastic A380 product between LAX and Sydney or Melbourne. Availability varies but looks to be primarily in July and August of this summer. So if you’re at all interested in visiting Australia this summer or want to get some great value for the Citi Executive AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard that earned you at least 110,000 points, then this might be a great option for you. However, you must decide fast as these seats will likely be gone within a day or two.

First class availability between LAX-Sydney

Only 72,500 points for a one way flight in first class! If you can only afford one way, then consider flying in economy on one of the legs of your trip and enjoy the first class product to Australia, which is the longer leg of the flights. Otherwise use points from another program like Alaska or United to book business or first class in Cathay or United’s direct flights between the two cities.
