If you already own a credit card and are earning valuable rewards with Chase, American Express, Citi, or Barclays, then you’re already headed in the right direction. You’re accumulating points from daily purchases and maximizing the 2x, 3x, and even 5x points spent in different categories with different cards (Ex. Chase Ink card earn 5x points at office supply stores and telecommunications). But there is an even faster way to collect miles and it’s so easy to do, yet so many people either don’t know about it or don’t employ this method. Here’s how it goes:
Credit card companies offer you the opportunity to shop through their web portal when purchasing items online. Instead of going straight to Amazon.com, Groupon, Sephora, Macy’s, etc., you use the credit card’s web portal link. For example, Ultimate Rewards (Chase) offers really great bonuses, sometimes 5x, 10x, 15x, or even up to 30x points per dollar spent at one of their merchants. To get to the web portal, you must log on to your Chase account, click on Ultimate Rewards and then you will find the “Earn Faster” tab.
You will then find a list of merchants to shop at, and you will realize that you shop at many of these merchants all the time! Instead of only earning 1 point per dollar, however, you can earn some really lucrative points and take advantage of some solid promotional offers that change pretty often. I recommend checking these web portals pretty often to find out about the latest promotions and how many extra points you can earn when making large purchases online.
Credit card companies all have their own version of web portals where you can really maximize your points earning at a much higher level than 1 or 2 points per dollar spent.
Below is an example of Citi AAdvantage’s web shopping portal, and as you can see, it’s very similar to other credit card reward programs.
So start scanning the online stores through your credit card reward programs and maximize your earning potential with every day shopping. If you’re scared of shopping for clothes and items that you might need to return, most stores allow you to bring in the items you purchased online and return them at the store. Be sure to login to your respective credit cards’ reward programs and access their shopping portals to familiarize yourself with the process and scan for the best bonus offers today!
